So after getting the 360 fired up and running I noticed (after driving around a few times) that fuel is pouring out of the top of the carb when idling (motorcraft 2100) through the 2 verticle shafts in front of the butterfly (see pic)



I think this will be from crap getting in under the float needle? Is my assumption right? is there much to getting at the neddle?

iether debris stuck under float needle valve or are you running a high power pump or not using a filter with tank return for exess fuel

I believe they are the breather tubes for the float chambers, so if its overflowing I would say your float valves aren't closing , so need to be taken out and cleaned.

Its completley standard, factory mechanical pump, no return line, no where to connect one?

It was running fine untill I took it for a run, I would say I have dislodged something or some crap in the fuelline has got into the carb, I pull it apart and have a look

No just standard filter 8mm in and out, nice and simple,

good man ......................................... malibu has a full rebuild kit for your carb he probably thinks its a box of tissues .......he got it from me  and did he post you the gearbox plate you needed

yes he got the plate, and a freebie power steering pump coz im full of admiration for what he has done (and he caught me on a drunk night  )

rebuild kit for a motorcraft? isnt that called a credit card to buy an edelbrock?

Nice one guys, yes I did get the pump and plat from Ade, as for buying new carb, thats out of the question at the mo, spent way to much recently to justify, if you do have a spare rebuild kit (Ade) let me know what you want for it.

Looks like I have it sorted,

Took the top off the carb and looked in, very clean actually, looked like it had been serviced recently (P/O) as it was too clean to be a 70's standard issue, but I did notice that the float level seemed wrong, checked it against the factory settings, and adjusted to suit. I also noted that the pump lever rods and throttle position rod were at the extreme ends of the scale so I put both these back to factory positions, will have to drive it now properly to check but at no load conditions (in garage) it seems to run well.
