Right well, as some of you know I bought Tanks old TJ. No sooner had I bought it I was getting ideas. I decided to change the things that I consider to be wranglers bad points.

For starters I wanted to lower it to get as many of the standard (or near to) angles back. This would make it work better on and off road.
I didnt want to sacrifice ground clearence though. So the first obvious thing was the std Jeep skid or anchor as it should be named. On this motor it had been lowered to help the slip yoke.

So I had a good read up on various tj build threads and decided on a route to take.

I bought myself

2" Iron man lift springs
4 adj johnny joint type lower control arms
A sye and double cardon prop
4.56 gears
A spartan locker similar to a lockright for the rear
A tds goodwinch and bow rope

Then after chatting to James, we decided to fab new

Low profile skid plate
New slightly boatsided rockers with tube
Along with high line tube fenders which give enough room to run 35"+ tyres with a 2" lift
A tank gaurd
A new stubby front winch bumper

So for those of you that dont recall when I got it, it looked like this

Had to have a little play with the fork lift so we flexed it up

We had sun for nearly ten minutes one day so I took the hard top off and bought a bikini top for it

Then it was time for the work to begin so on with the new lift and off with the wings ready for tube also tore the bumper and old rockers off

Here you can see the tube wings taking place notice the bonnet has been attacked too. You can really see the clearence gains.

Next is the new much flatter and much tougher skid.

This is the new look front bumper complete with winch and holes in grill ready for the new indicators.

Last picture for now we have the skid fitted and painted I have more belly clearence mow with only 2" of lift than before with 4".

Thanks for the comments guys glad you're l liking the work.

As for a price its not just that simple, there are some choices to make on what exactly you're after.

1 Do you want to go highline for the maximum clearence?
2 Do you want tube flares aswell at the wings?
3 Do you want a complete job ie inner wings, new repeater and relocation of the indicator to the grill
4 Paint

If you choose the highline fenders like I have then you are really going to want the rears to match, other wise it will look all wrong.

I thought there would be some interest so I prompted him on a price for full front and rear highline fender and flare kit, installed = £800 which is very chear as believe me this is no two minute job.

i realise they ain't exactly a simple job, but ffs its only a bit of tube and an angle grinder. For £800 i could easily get a set of real ones sent from poison spyder, so for that reason, i'm out!

If you think you dropping your car off then picking it up complete with ooodles more room for tires ready to drive away is a rip off at £800 then I want the number of your fabrication people. Comparing having a job done to buying a product is like chalk and cheese. Plus buying bolt on tube fenders is fook all like what I have had done. Highline fenders require alot of time. As for it just being a grinder and some tube then why would you possibly need to get them from poison spyder? Infact why are you even asking how much for a set if its so easy? The bolt on front flares alone from poison spyder are $550 by the way so you are a little way off there too.

Out of interest how much did you pay for your cage peanuts I presume with it just being tube and grinders.

When I asked poison spyder about their flares, they also wanted $600 to ship em so including that in the price, and customs duty blah de blah, then I reckon it'd just about come to £800-£1000, bit pricey for my liking.

Look at the end of the day I like what you are doing, The flares and your tummy tuck look great am a bit jealous really, oh and i think the notion of having a small lift and lots of clearance is spot on, something I would like to try in the future. At the moment I am working down the theory of more droop and more bumpstop...
I will get mine hi-lined with tube fenders, trust me I desperatly need them, as I keep stuffing my wings into trees.

My cage all said and done bar paint came to around £1500 iirc, and that was after redesigning the middle hoop, ordering extra tube to incorporate the rear sliders and having my side steps re-worked to tie the cage in.

At the end of the day its looking good mate, carry on the good work, I look forward to seeing it in the flesh one day

If I was gonna order a set it'd be for fronts only as I'm not far off cutting the rear tub off mine and tray backing it, however, I got a scruitineering list to work to first before things I'd like to do, get done.

Are you gonna re position your fuel tank?

Fuel tank is just getting a skid for now, but when ever i look at it I get angry stupid fat hanging down thing.

Just dont wanna loose the rear tub space.

Yeah this motor will not see above 35's I have tried to mod it to suit them.
Once the chese axles are binned It will be stretched and run 37's. That wont be for a good while though. I need to get my buggy finished first.
If all goes to plan though the 2" lift will still clear the 37's once the rear arch is lengthened backwards.
2" lift and 37's hopefully resulting in a nice driveable road car, Watch this space.

If I had realised a few weeks ago that it was possible to run a dana 300 behind a ax15 and give right hand drop front prop it would of had been done first time.
Never mind she will do for now.

I have bought a set of 35x12.50x15 maxxis creepy crawlers too, and some matt lee beadlock rings to weld on.
