Should be able to cope with that 40mph stuff

have you got the correct rad cap..... Tis marked in psi YJ TJ ZJ is 15or16 psi and this raises the boiling point of water coolant mix if it leaks pressure and therefore fluid it will get hot.... Had this on the ZJ new cap cured it.

otherwise it's the ford Taurus 2 speed fan trick that the US boys use.... DoubleJ had one cool anything and suck some stoopid amount of CFM like 3,500  :icon_super:

What you need is a nice efficient diesel that doesnt generate as much heat :003:

If you go Leecy fan to augment the mechanical.
You might fall foul of the following!

I did this to the YJ cos of a honkin great 8274 blocking the rad at motorway speeds and holding me to 50mph
So fitted the largest Leecy that would fit across rad in front that worked as a pusher

at overheat speeds on motorway/ A1 etc turn fan on and it will hold engine at a temp where it is safe to now do 60mph
But won't cool any further......

at all Offroad situations normal engine driven fan is more than adequate no Leecy needed and since 1Ton status have never hit the switch

Seems that Leecy fans work best behind rad as Pullers and only if fully shrouded. as said big Yankee SPAL type fan or Ford Taurus 2 speed that pull ridiculous CFM are the ones favoured by the US boys so will work for us :icon_super:

Have you had the engine tuned up yet? If the timing is off or anything out of adjustment it maybe running hot. It sounds funny but also check you have the correct fan, vee and serpentine belts turn the fans in opposite directions. It has happened during swaps that that the wrong fan gets installed and blows air forward.

Delk is right..I've come across a fan turning the wrong way twice before [blowing instead of sucking!] Also bad timing can cause overheating too.

and running lean will cause it to run hot (too much air, not enough petrol) seen this hot enough to melt pistons on a bike
