I agree with an old skol tune up, Different kettle of fish but when I had my MX5 mk1 and then had it turbo'd it ran for a about a mile and blew a seal on the crank.

Part of the work I did was then to replace the water pump and timing belt when I did the crank seal. I timed it back up as the computer suggested and it was really down on power.

My neighbour who is an old school mechanic came over with a stethoscope and started to listen to the engine and fiddled with the tuning by sound not by computer guidance.

Hello we then had 240bhp.

does the dizzy have a vacuum advance? if so is it connected and leak free, if not make sure relevant holes are blanked off

also remember timing set to 10° btdc with the vacuum disconnected at idle

I would say its the fuelling...

at a guess I think it's the secondary choke/throttle opening tooooo soon and that's why it's cutting out and needs a gentle feather to get to the point when it can handle the amount of fuel it's receiving.

Get the secondary to open later and that might fix it.

timing is critical as well......( no pun intended???)
If the secondaries are opening too soon and over fueling the engine you will see black smoke from the exhaust, this will be apparent when the engine is under load at low revs, if you have a holley carb change the secondary spring, its easy and only takes a few minutes. I use the heaviest spring on my holley T/A and keep it on the primaries as much as possible, gives you better throttle response off road

gonna get the Sparky to sort the elecs over the weekend, and he has a mate who is gonna look at the brakes and fiddle with the timing

if still no good will take it to the tuners

Even worse than that Ade, if thats the only one then its an MOT failure. Needs to be between centre line and offside.

Ya lazy fecker  :icon_toilet:

Single fog must be centre line or offside

At a Minimum height of 250 mm from the floor
and a Maximum height of 1000 mm from the floor

Cannot be within 100 mm of existing stop lamp

That means you cant put it where you were thinkin.

you got a reverse light in the light units on the back? Stick a 21w red bulb in one of them & wire to the fog if you have, what I have done on my eunos  (or a brake/tail if they have multiples each side)
