Grand Cherokee Alarm System Info Required
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:42:54 PM »

Hi, I'm a new member, only joined today so please don't shout if I do something wrong :0)

I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis 4.0l, it's an S (1998) reg, LPG converted, and I 've had it 3 years now. It's been a really good car and runs like a good un. The only thing that keeps bugging me is when for some reason the main car battery goes flat (Go on holiday, don't use it for a week or so etc) the alarm activates and it seems impossible to turn it off. I have a portable jump starter, and connecting that and using the remote fob sometimes disarms the alarm, but on other occasions it doesn't.

My question is... Is there a way to stop the alarm when the main car battery is dead? I was thinking about fitting a switch of some kind hidden under the bonnet in-line with the sounder (Where ever that is) just to stop the noise, which is deafening when the bonnet is open. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated

Its an integral system but check out the door control module (front passenger door) for possible issues

If you leave the Jeep for an extended period, remove the fuse marked IOD under the bonnet. This should stop the battery draining.

The Doc is as always right....my issue was spontaneous...Think its in the fuse box looking from the left under the bonnet from the front of the GC...hell I knew that before BD... :hysterical:
