Find a Range Rover conversion plate and fit a Rangies auto box, only problem is it will have a transfer box attached to it.
On the bright side you could have a two transfer boxes and end up with a super low crawl speed though  :003:

Forgot to say performance will be dire but for originality's sake did they use autos in Nam?

fook knows, I have had adaptor plates made up, but you will need to find a flex plate to attach the Torque convertor to, maybe mod one off another engine

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/landrover-2a-breaking-so-selling-conversion-plate-and-stuff-for-the-conversion-/160850451635?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25736f1cb3

The 6.354 is a 6 cylinder version of the 4.236 allegedly so they have the same bolt pattern.

lawd will have no idea how useful all that stuff is  :peekaboo:

but I could be delving into the pot if its what im after

Would advance adaptors make an adaptor for a Perkins  :hysterical:

The stuff above would mate a Range Rover gearbox to your engine but its made for a manual gearbox so like Scrw says you would presumably need a flex plate drilling and then you would have to either use the Rangies transfer box and get rid of the seperate one or get rid of the Rangies transfer box and fit some sort of drive coupling to the auto box.
I have no idea how strong the Range Rover stuff is either, it may not last 5 minutes with that engine and hulking that thing about but the same may be said of the TF999.

The trouble is whatever you do it means having something engineered somewhere and if you dont know anyone and cant draw what you want precisely you are wasting your time and are better off just sticking to the manual box or finding something else with an auto box already

Dont you have any spare AMC V8s anywhere?

If you go making adapters and trying to stuff any old auto in it will probably cost you a small fortune and end up even worse then the manual and boat engine you have. If you do want to change it would probably me much easier to pick up one of the chevy diesels with an auto already on it. At least you know it will run and the torque converter will match the engine.
