WH / WK Front prop CV joint
« on: October 06, 2012, 01:36:55 PM »

Just had a big service done on the grand and been told the rear CV joint on the front prop is badly worn and the cause of a noise I've been telling the garage about for a bit.

It's the same style as a WG Prop CV but apparently not available as a separate part, need to buy a new prop!

Question is have any birty's heard about this before and can say "look at xxx4wd parts website" or "take it to so and so prop specialists, they did my land/Toyota/Mitsubishi etc."

I haven't got as far as taking it off to measure but have done some searching and emailed a company who might know the answer.

Any tips welcomed and if I find out the answer I'll post it for future reference for any WH owners

Well it's taken long enough but I finallly fixed this at the weekend. www.Driveshaftparts.co.uk sorted me out in the end. I sent them some measurements because they weren't 100% sure if the part they stock as a Jeep CV would fit. The one below is suitable for a 2006 WK/WH 3.0 CRD though:

http://www.driveshaftparts.co.uk/cv-joints/jeep-front-propshaft-cv-joint-rear/prod_25.html

In the end I actually went with a replacement prop - I think they got the price wrong but I asked a couple of times and checked if I could send it back if it was the wrong fitting. But it turned up, new CVs at both ends and only £73 incl. VAT and delivery  :icon_super:

6 fiddly studs each end but a simple job really and the old CV really was FUBAR, wobbling all over the place.

Hopefully this will be some help to someone in the future, I know there aren't many WK drivers on here but the above saved £400 which is always good.
