Hi All
Can one of you knowledgeable people inform me what tyre size I can go tooooooo with a standard 2000 Grand Cherokee 4.0. Presently running 235's.
Dont want to add spacers or suspension lifts this close to the snowy white stuff. So also dont want any rubbing on full lock and its got standard 16'' alloy wheels.
Cheers for your assistance

Standard 16'' alloy rims with 235's was thinking of A/Ts but was wondering if I could increase to say 265's without any problems. Or what was the largest tyre without problems. My Korando's have 31'' tyres without issues. As this is a new toy for me I thought I would ask the people in the know.Thank you for your reply

245/65R17 or 245/70R16
I run AT tyres 245/65R17 without issue on and off road
Note that if you have Quadra Drive or Quadra Trac II you should have all tyres the same size and rotate reg, so 5 new tyres is ideal.

I have ran up to 265/70/16 on my WJ 2.7CRD without problems.
I currently have 265/75/16 BFG MT2's fitted with a 2" BB lift with minor rubbing on full lock or towing a fully loaded car trailer.
One other thing - I note you have a petrol WJ - the Diesel WJ uses stronger springs, which may explain my lack of issues with the tyres.
The 1st pic shows 255/70/16 with stock suspension
The 2nd pic is 265/75/16 with a 2" BB lift

The diesel WJ have 1" taller springs over standard petrol WJs
245/70R16 is biggest without rubbing and allowing your jeep to flex as designed. While a 255 will fit on once flexed it will contact the rear shocks and reversing at full lock is likely to rub inner front fenders.

Sorry but I've had the 255/70/16 BFG A/T's fitted to my WJ CRD for over 60000 miles - I never had any rubbing issues at all - now that included towing trailers up to the 3500Kg limit and flexing across fields and ruts with a trailer loaded with wood.
However the petrol motors may be limited as you say - due to spring sizing.
