Hi All,
thought this might be helpful if those who have Merc engined CRDs and experienced the same fault as I did in cold weather. Put simply, the auto box would not change up when the ambient temperature was around, or just above, freezing.
The attached pdf is of a Service Bulletin issued by Chrysler following reports of gearbox faults in cold weather. It only apples to the 2.7 CRD model and we, the mug punters, were not supposed to see it. I got it from an Auto Box specialist agency who told me , "You didn't get this from us!".
If it were a Toyota fault it would have been the subject of a recall. Chrysler call it a "Service Bulletin", which entitles the dealer to charge for carrying out work that is only necessary because of a basic, and original, fault in the TCM and ECM software. My local main dealer charged me for an hour, @ £75+VAT, and no amount of arguing would persuade them, or Chrysler UK, that the charge was not justified.
Just thought it may be of interest to some of you but, be warned, Chrysler UK, being the robbing bar stewards that they are, will charge for this upgrade.
Best of luck
Tony Norton
