it will most likely have a dana 35. 44's that where fitted to zj's where crap aluminium ones and a waste of space.
for the age you need SAE 75W-140 oil and diff additive

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-JEEP-AXLE-ADDITIVE-P-N-05103522EA-/321022416661?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item4abe6d5715

and yes zj's are a bit spongy

Dana 35c, 75/140 is better than the original 75/90, don't forget a shot of LSD additive in the rear diff, and yes, they drive like an old pudding.

There was a bit mucky taking :) ZJ's are capable off road. Come to West Harptree this weekend and you'll see a few doing just as much as a TJ if not more. Having a LWB can be a big advantage over a TJ's SWB.

Sage words from a stick in the mud .............. zj wj can be realy good offroders with a few parts stock zj way better than stock xj and head and shoulders above xj in every other aspect but lacks the yank charm of the xj

But I dont understand why you guys off road zj and wj as good as they can perform with the right parts the experiance is like a form of voyeurism you are disconected from whats going on its a kin to watching incab youtube vids in your front room arm chair on your 42 inch plasma screen

as being of the over 6" variety of birty   the ZJ is the one for me
XJ are to cramped. tj's to short on the wheel base
as for being a form of voyeurism not sure what u mean.
was the point of modding a jeep and having to do more work to drive it
but i like my electricay and the drone jeep army I'm secretly building   :banghead: the wold knows
but you the world would be boring if we where all the same

Jeep are cool and we like the ones we own

stick with the ZJ and have fun and stay dry

Comparing different things but my WK is voyeurism compared to the XJ. No noise in the cab, can barely notice when the wheels are spinning and it's doing so much complex stuff with quadradrive diffs that it keps moving even whe it really shouldn't on nearly bald road tyres. Great for what I use it for but the XJ feels really rough and ready by comparison - especially with no carpets and solid flex joints rather than soft rubber bushes.
