Well we must be getting there by now, however, this evening I set about removing my gearbox and tc, only to find that some prat has windy gunned in the bolts that hold the transmission up, making the rivi nuts twizzle in the chassis rails..

Is there a common fix for this?

Yep, either buy new 1/2" UNC ones from the States, or speak to Steve at FTE as he makes repair ones that can be welded in

Time to fab a flat belly skid plate
We did one on Si Redmond's welding brackets to the inside of the chassis rails and using leaf spring poly bushes. Works well.

I haven' t got a std belly skid anyhow, I'm sure we could have a workaround

Oh hell wandering into grown up territory again
when I (ok the spanner chap up the road) changed to the teraflex belly up plate we had the spiny riv nut problem
we put pressure on the old plate just by the bolt, with a bottle jack, which seemed to sandwich the riv nut against the chassis rail just enough to air gun the bolt of
May be of some help
I'll keep quiet now
