Yes I checked the breather, and it looks ok.
I did notice though that the rubber bit on the top of the gear box that the gear stick passes through had come adrift and was just attached to the gear stick.
Maybe when it was bonnet deep the other day the wet stuff got in there.
Who know for sure.
I need to spend more time on the maintenance of the Jeep if I want to keep it running.
