Calling Full Size Jeepers- Budget lift mystery?
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:14:27 PM »

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen a set up like this before.
Vehicle is an' '81 Cherokee Laredo running 33/12.50/15 tyres with no body lift.
Springs seem to be the standard ride factory units.
Coil over type sprung shocks have been swapped in at the front Instead of the standard dampers.
These seem strong enough to raise the front suspension by 4" but this is now putting weight on the shock mounts as well as the spring mounts.
At the rear there are just two 4" steel blocks inserted between the axle and the springs with longer U bolts to match :icon_eek:
Never heard of or seen such a set up anywhere else.
Is this a budget lift kit or a garden shed jobby? ?

Not sure about the front. Rear blocks were common on big American pickups in the 80's. More street then off-road. Rednecks would even go with bigger blocks with anti wrap bars between the axle and frame.

my J20 had blocks in the rear, and the Chief had them for a while until the shackle flip was done - dunno bout off road but was fine on road

Not 100% sure about the front springs.
Need to count the leaves.
Possible Bastard Pack or helper springs added :017:
Jeep not at my place so can't check yet
