Sorry to be pushy, but i need to use my XJ 2.5TD to to my track car from Portsmouth to Scotland on friday and im having issues with the lights on my jeep/trailer (hahahaha ohhh god)
My jeep didnt come with a tow bar, so i bought one from a breakers on Ebay that were breaking an XJ with a towbar.
Fitted the tow bar itself, when removing it at the scrapyard they just cut all the wires then removed the harness, which is werid.
Anyway, this is what it looks like:
With the wires that were cut, i soldered them back together to their corresponding colours hoping it'd work. The harness basically piggybacks/splices into the rear light wiring behind the passengers rear quarter plastic, right? Theres also a beeper come relay jobby thats in there.
I have continuity between the trailer plug itself and the correct wires at the piggy back plug, but the lights dont work properly. No sidelights, no indicators, but the brake lights work? When i put the hazards on the indicators AND reverse lights flash together on the jeep only, still nothing on the trailer.
All lights on the jeep work fine with the piggyback tow harness removed. I've checked all the connections i made when joining the harness back together, along with the earth, all seems fine!
Any ideas what my issue could be? Am i missing anything from the setup at all?
PS trailer is known working and all the lights work on another car.
