I run a Superwinch EP9, I've not upgraded the alternator or battery yet, no problems so far.

For winch purpose only, can anyone forsee a problem running 2 batteries in parallel?
Has anyone considered running a second Alternator? Situated where the Air con would be?
Cheers for the input so far
What is the standard rating for a 4.0 TJ's Alternator?

devon 4x4 run there yellow tops in parralel, with two yellow tops you would have to be winching hell of a lot to run out of juice, its the set up i had on my old 90 and it never let me down and is a lot cheaper than a fancy battery management unit.
remember to include a hd battery cut out switch to isolate the winch
out of interest what diameter battery/winch wire should you be using as i am just doing this job myself
cheers

My FJ40 has the dual yellow top optimas fitted in parallel ... although there is no winch yet !!! ....you cant use the aircon compressor position, you'll need it for your OBA

I'm using a Superwinch EP9.0 and single Optima yellow top after frying the stock battery. The Optima handles my abuse no problem but an upgraded alternator would be nice.
I used 50mm2 (AWG2) cables for winch wiring.

I have always used arc welder leads for cables, they work a treat!!
Most wire/electrical places can swedge on the correct ends.

Check out the link below for winch cable, 25mm2 is sufficient. But if you can get weld cable? Its usually 35mm2 and really flexible. But....at £150 for 50m from RS a bit expensive
Terminals need to be crimped on properly though........
For battery isolator, check out eblag. they have HD 250amp constant 2000amp burst type avail for £12
