Centre diff lock stuck on?

Hello, I'm looking for some help here, at first I thought my rear lsd was Jammed on or something but that is fine it feels more like my center diff is stuck locked, ive played with the high and low but no difference, plese help

It doesn't have one, it has a viscous coupling, and it's f**ked.

Have to agree with above, it's likely your VC. You can get replacements for about £400 and then whatever labour to replace it. My ZJ only has 80k miles on it and I'm pretty certain mines already gone. Seeing as its mainly used for off road though I'm not going to worry too much about it.

An alternative (Because I'm guessing you have a Quadta-Tec 249 transfer case) is to fit in the 242 Selec-trac transfer case in place of your 249 which does away with the VC and leaves you with set 2wd, 4wd-all time, 4wd low modes. Most of the time its direct plug and play replacement but it depends what the donor vehicle was as you may need to swap input shafts and more. Plenty of info about the swap online from people that know more about it than me!

Bugger looks like a transfer box swap it is then, I will look for a 242 as if anything fails I always upgrade and never replace. I take it they are usually found in the xj?

Yup, 242 is found behind all 4.0 XJs over here.

Shouldn't be too hard to find one then, I will take out the front prop for now before I bust a biff or something lol

Try Combellack breakers at st awful, they use a rego system, so use mine S232NRH, they deliver, if your not in and want to get it delivered to me, no worries....
