:icon_winkle:  Hello to All comunity  from Sicily,  I am Tano and I have some questions about subject.

As you know to access the revision of 4 and 5 injectors must lower engine and transmission of our dear Wj 2.7 crd. My GC was the driver left then make the cut or holes turns out to be complicated because of the bracket that supports the wiper. (see photo) .
However with a little patience you could do it. My question to lower engine and transmission involves only release only mounts or must release some water pipe, some cable ect? According to you can make an excellent cleaning of the seats is better to the solution of the hole / or the lowering of the engine-transmission. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
If there are somebody have a procedure step by step for lowering engine will be appreciate.

PS. Oil Filter removal  socket  is  :74mm-14 flute  or 74,5mm-14 flute

Hi Tano,

Lowering the engine seems fairly easy looking at the description in the factory service manual...

REMOVAL

WARNING: NO SPARKS, OPEN FLAMES OR SMOKING. RISK OF POISONING FROM INHALING AND
SWALLOWING FUEL. RISK OF INJURY TO EYES AND SKIN FROM CONTACT WITH FUEL. POUR
FUELS ONLY INTO SUITABLE AND APPROPRIATELY MARKED CONTAINERS. WEAR PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING.

NOTE: The engine must be lowered in the vehicle to remove the fourth and fifth cylinders fuel injectors.

(1) Disconnect negative battery cable.
(2) Remove engine cover (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - REMOVAL).
(3) If the fourth or fifth injectors are being replaced the engine must be supported and the engine mount through bolts removed. Lower engine down in engine compartment until injectors can be removed.
(4) Unplug injector electrical connectors.
NOTE: Counterhold injection lines with wrench socket at threaded connections of injectors.
(5) Remove injector high pressure lines (Refer to 14 - FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/FUEL LINES - REMOVAL).
(6) Press in locking clamps and detach injector return lines.
(7) Remove tension claw at injectors.
NOTE: If injectors are tight, remove with extraction claw in place of tensioning claw. If extraction claw contacts cylinder head cover, remove cylinder head cover. If necessary, remove injectors with threaded adaptor and discard injector.
(8 ) Remove injectors (Fig. 6).
(9) Clean injectors and recesses (Refer to 14 - FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL INJECTION/FUEL INJECTOR - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

Thanks to the swift response. So, just mount only the engine mounts. The transmission will follow the lowering of the engine? I felt that to remove a bolt on the engine bracket you must first remove the converter, right?

PS. I have to buy the key to remove the oil filter, and you would know what 'the right size 74 or 74.5 mm?

Welcome Tano! As with Dutch I have a WJ CRD and luckily not needed to do the dreaded injector washers. I have however had to replace the fuel return valve from the top of injector 5. To do this I cut a small access hole and accessed it from the top. I've re-sealed with some aircraft grade sticky aluminium tape. I'm not sure if I would be able to get the injector out from a small hole but it could be an alternative to think about if dropping the engine can't be done.

If you do drop it, could you report back with a few pics and any advice/findings?

Good luck!!

Looking at results on Google it seems the oil filter may be 76mm. A strap wrench should do the job though if you can get one.

tano take off the wipers and the scuttle panel remove the wiper motor and cut two 3" holes above the injectors and cut out enough metal to get at the injectors, half an hours work. Easy. Plus you can look down into the holes to see what they are like, far too much work dropping the engine, you have to unhook the exhaust and if you break the clamp its £40+. The missing metal wont affect the strength of the bulkhead.

Hi , thanks for your message, but in the European car the bracket of the wipper is just on the middle 's 5 th injector.( as photo).

Otherwise , I had lowering the engine and change the seals .  The right sequence is :

1) remove the bolts screws (18 size)  on engine mounts   - use a lifter
2) remove the upper links to get out the cat
3) remove a turbo bracket  ( so you can lower more )
4) remove the cat
5  remove bracket trasmission ( lower more)   -  use a lifter
6  with the lifter lowering slowly the engine and trasm
7  Right access to work on 4 and 5th injectors.

Ps.  The oil wrench is 74,5 mm

Thanks a lot
