Battery charging ....
«
on:

If trickle charging the battery with a smart charger while in the vehicle should I disconnect the negative or positive leads, or am I ok to leave connected ? I was always told that the negative lead should be disconnected when charging the battery but I have also read that if the battery is disconnected for too long it can cause issues with the immobiliser .. can anyone advise please ?

I never disconnect the battery, and I usually leave the smart charger connected all the time that the jeep is in the garage.

Leave it all connected up, my bike has been like it for years with no problem.

only a C-Tek or other intelligent charger....that knows when charging is done.
The old type will just keep charging......not good.

Cheers chaps .... I have purchased a Sealey autocharger £26, delivers just the amount of charge the cell needs and will stop/re start as required. It also says it can be left attatched for extended periods of time.... thats what it says on the tin anyway.
