Hi guys.
I have a 53 plate KJ Cherokee Limited, that is due an MOT.

Just been checking it over and I'm buggered if I can work out how to turn the rear fog lights on!

The front ones come on just peachy (side lights or headlights on, then pull the end of the stalk and they come on fine) but nothing at the back.
Can't find any other switches. Am I being blind, stupid, or both?

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Her indoors had one of those a couple of years ago ... a bit misty in my brain now.

Pull again to next notch or twist same knob ?

To the OP...both ends should come on at the same time. There may be separate relays for front and rear though...I can't remember.

I'll have a quick look at the manual and see.

RE the front and rear fog lamps...according to the manual, each end has it's own relay, so I'm guessing there is a glitch with the rear one on your KJ.

Easy to find, easy to change!

Look in the fuse box area at the end of your dash (just above your right knee)...you will find a cluster of nine relays at the bottom of the bunch...the one you want is on the lowest row...either first or third relay.

Yes, but not in an orthodox manor.
All the relays and fuses were good, so it was a wiring or connector issue.

I re wired them, via a relay, using a fused spur offa the back of the power outlet, switched via a relay, using a feed from the fog lamp indicator lamp in the binnacle.

The switch is fitted neatly into the center console.

So, I can switch the rear fogs on and off, any time the front ones are on.

Managed to get it all done just before MOT day, too. Yay.

Hi Bart,

Sorry I missed your post in January and just caught up with it. If you fitted a new switch for your rear Fog Lamps then I am too late to help.

I am pretty sure your switch was working it's just that it is an awkward way to operate.

Basically as you know to turn the front fog lamp use the same switch as for the headlamp but you pull the end of the switch towards your passenger door.

Now to turn the rear fog lamp you pull the switch towards the passenger side and give it a turn (Anti-clockwise) at the same time. You should see an orange Led in the dash so if it is not illuminated in your dash you didn't do it right. If that switch has never been activated it will be a little more difficult the first time. You might need to give it a go few times before getting the hang of it.
