« on: September 02, 2006, 04:34:35 PM »

i need to change the ball joints on the steering knuckles and i can't get the shafts out .I don't need to remove the hubs from the shaft and what i've read on the web says they can be pulled out but having undo the 3 hub bolts i can't budge it . is it simply stuck or am i missing something like a c clip in the dif.

You have to pull the unit hubs to get the shafts out, to pull the hubs you need to pull the 3 bolts.

Undo nuts on hub studs to the end of the stud then carefully tap from the back with soft face mallet this should knock hub out of swivel uj can be done with hub still attatched.
You can also loosen hub by carefully driving chizel inbetween backplate and hub.
good luck Darren.
