Hiya ll,,decided to get my dodgy pushrod sorted and buy a new one.It has "popped" out twice now.Does anyone know if you have to buy the rod and arm in singles or sets?

Or recomend a supplier.
I got the 2.5 TD.
Small job but worth doing I reckon,

Couls also be the hydraulic tappets collapsing and causing the problem.

you may think it's a small job but the hydarulic tappets mean the removal of all the heads and a new gasket. the rods themselves dont realy change in length but an easy check is for you to pop them out and check if they are bent this then will allow them to jump out. if they are flat then the hyd lifters might be showing signs of wear, then it's a big job. to be fair if you need to change a couple it might be worth changing them all at the same time as if some are going and you change a couple the rest might start to fail 6 months down the line and its another expense again.
it has been known for the follower wheels on these to wear as well so giving an uneven surface al allowing the rod to jump out. Oil change every 4k miles with a flush as well will keep everything inside the engine working fine

Hi,

You should be able to remove the pushrods, rockers, hydraulic tappets, with the with the head in situ. Head off to remove valves, it looks like you need a tool to draw out the lifters , this is on a 2.5 4 cylinder.......cya

on a diesel with the rocker cover off the rockers can be removed and the push rods. the head has to be removed to take out the hydaraulic lifters this is due to a retaining clip that holds them in place and is secured when the head is bolted down. the valve springs can be removed with the head in place by removing the glow plug and connecting an air line via an adaptor so the valve doesn't drop into the cylinder, the stem seals can be changed as well if they are the updated heads with them fitted
