Quadratrac is the transfer case. permanent 4wd (no 2wd). can be locked by a vacuum system for when the going gets tough.

If you've got a CJ7 Quadratrac then it'll be auto transmission and the rear axle will have the diff (final drive) offset to the right like a Land Rover axle.
Auto box is GM TH400, allegedly the best in the game.
Quadratrac (transfer box) is of questionable strength.
Low range unit was an optional extra, (at least on FSJ's) does yours have it?

Quadratrac CJ7s also came with a Torqueflite gearbox.
There was also an aftermarket 4x2 conversion with a fixed overdrive ratio, however when you activate the vacuum switch you get full time 4WD with a locked up transfer case.
Just another freckle to the vast array of options we can chop from one wagon to another!

All Quadratrack CJ's I've ever seen had GM TH400 boxes.
I've got a CJ7 auto from 1980 and there is definately a Dana300 transfer box on the back.
As far as I know:
GM box= Quadratrac full time 4x4
Chrysler box= D300 part time 4x2/4x4
