removal of lift blocks
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:42:56 AM »

Can anyone help me out with a little info please. I have obtained a rhd cj5 4.2 straight six 1974/5. One of the problems with it is that there is a large gap between the wheel arches and the tyres. It has what looks like rubber blocks between the body and the chassis (2-3")  looking in other pictures the original ones appear alot thinner. Therefore can i just remove these to get the jeep to look right or will that affect the steering column?

Or is it a big job, as i want to enjoy the jeep, should i just throw sum money at bigger tyres  ?

Hope you can help, Sorry if this is a repeat of a previous thread but as a new boy on the block i'm still ploughing through the site (which is great by the way)

Cheers .

Yes, you can remove the lift blocks, though as Birtys, we would encourage you to get bigger tyres

I think you're talking about a body lift, they're only literally bolted through. Standard body mounts are about 1/2".

just stick some bigger tyres on, it will look better and is slightly more easier than taking the blocks out
