Help with bits on 02 WJ Outlander

Hi all, want a bit of help! I have just got a 02 4.7 Outlander, and want a 2" lift, think a simple body lift will have to do for now, so, best place to get one and is it easy it to fit, also want a skid plate to cover the cat's etc, any ideas? cant find much on the net, i also want some front tow hooks, thanks Chris. :-D

A body lift would involve a lot of cutting, cus it's a unibody  :wink: . You needs a budget boost, consisting of coil spacers.

Look at the Procomp catalogue here.
The part number you need for a 2" poly lift is 64104.
You can get it in the UK from Explorer Procomp.
You can also try www.4wd.com or www.quadratec.com (amongst others) to buy direct from the States. (Other people make budget boosts too).

For what you're after, the spacers fit the bill fine. Hunt around the forums a bit to see what others think on the shock length issue. The spacers usually fit on the top of the coils, after dropping down the axles and compressing the springs.

have had a good look on the web, can't find much at all to fit the wj, had a look on Explorer Procomp and still cant find any bits to fit  :-?  I know it's not the most popular model to modify, even a bit, but i would have thought that a simple kit would be more common.

Explorer Procomp UK don't have the kit listed on their site. You need to order part number 64104, which as stated in the catalogue (link above), is a 2" budget boost for a WJ.

Search google with "jeep wj budget boost", there's loads of stuff.
As Stew says, the best place on the web for WJ bits is Kevins.

Kevin's got my vote too. Top man to deal with. My first lift was with a rocky road 2" BB for my ZJ grand cos I hadn't heard of KOR at the time. It was cheap and you can't really go that wrong with 4x 2" poly spacers.

General concensus of opinion in american jeep circles is steer clear of Rocky Road - they have a big reputation for terrible customer service and long, long delivery times.

To quote myself from another post - 'Have a look in the Grand Cherokee section of www.jeepforum.com for loads of useful info on what you can and can't do with Grands.
www.ironrockoffroad.com are well worth a look for lift kits etc. with an excellent service and reputation.'

'Kevinsoffroad' are top notch too.

I've got the ironrockoffroad trans. case/cat skid on its way to me at the moment. Worked out expensive with shipping and duty but should be well worth the peace of mind - it will take the full weight of the vehicle. :-D

Answers to the other questions;

I got my local Jeep dealer to order me the Mopar front tow hooks from the states. Don't know if they are still available though, it was about three years ago.

You can get away with the standard shocks with a 2" lift but the ride won't be as nice and the shocks might wear out quicker.

Now looking for a skid plate too, how did you get on with yours, and what was the total cost? and is it ok
