WJ speaker....
« on: March 18, 2008, 02:50:31 PM »

Afternoon.
I have a 51 Grand Cherokee which I believe is a WJ.....
the little 'tweeter' speaker on the top of the dash, near the windscreen on the driver side has developed an irritating buzz at some frequencies... some songs it's fine, others it buzzes in time with the music. It's got the Infinity Gold stezza, which up to this point has definitely been the best ICE I've ever had....the bass is awesome

I'm surprised they fit a speaker that can't handle the output of the stereo and amp...... surely I should be able to go to full volume and not damage the speakers on a factory fitted stereo......

I've been quote £47 from Listers Coventry.
Two questions ......
a) is there a cheaper or better alternative speaker.
b) how do I get at the speaker..... I've managed to lift a bit of the grill and the facia is lifting to the point where I can seen the speaker and that it's held in by at least one screw..... does the facia strip just pop off?

Thanks
Martin

I recently fitted a pair of these in mine ,great sound very very easy to fit and will stop them failing again as they have a capaciter fitted to them which protects the tweeter.

Have you got a Chrysler service manual? Should say in there how to remove them.

Fitted the ebay speakers...... you're right it is a piece of pee.... don't think the sound is quite as good as the Infinity jobbie, but definitely better than the Infinity + buzzing

A good investment.......probably.
