Xj on gas????
« on: April 10, 2008, 11:56:46 AM »

Hi,just looking at an xj at what seems to be a bargain price, but so I can afford to run it,it needs to be gassed (lpg),does anyone know what im likely to have to pay to do this with a single point conversion and a 90litre tank in the boot, the car is a 98 plate 4.0 litre,I know multipoint conversions are around the 2k mark but this is a bit too much for me,I know rangies can be done for about a grandish, can i do the same thing on an XJ????....cheers

I'd estimate about £1200 but would definitely recommend a multi-point system.

I have an OMVL multi-point system on mine, with underslung LPG tank and small replacement petrol tank. The stock petrol tank was plastic, these two are steel and I have fitted a fuel tank skid plate over them both so no problem off-road. This setup reduces clearance by about 2 inches closest to the axle and the loss tapers off towards the rear. With the skid plate and the lift it doesn't cause a problem off-road.

I fitted my LPG kit and had it certified by a company now out-of business. The kit cost around £1350 and about £100 on setting it up and certifying it.

I've done nearly 50k miles on my system with no problems and would definitely recommend it.
