I`ve purchased one of those replacement Stainless steel manifold jobs.
Any tips for a `relatively straight forward` job? I full expect to swear a lot and skin knuckes etc but has anyone any tips to make life easier?

no tips I'm afraid but just pray that none of the studs shear thats all

drop some diesel on all the studs to help free em up. also just take yer time. 8-)

Had a new stainless performancy manifold sat in my shed for a year now, haven't had the nerve to change it yet LOL

Make sure you release the fuel lines properly cos it's a right pain if you don't,i've changed two now and it much easier to completly remove the intake manifold than having it tied up out the way like i did the first time, and make what injector plug goes to injector cos it's quite easy to cross them over.

just pop 'em off they will stay in the right positon for when you refit it

Also fitted another one just last week, getting to be a bit of a habit recently, suppose its may fault for saying I'll do em for fellow Jeep'ers

okay how do the fuel rail push fit connectors come apart?

And how do you get the rear most manifold nut/stud off, from under the jeep?

on ours there's a metal clip, get that off with a screwver, should just pull off [-X

its the nut right at the back near the bulkhead, (airbox out anyway) have drained the pressure from the fuel line, but the connection is well fast even with the retaining clip off.

you need a tool for removing the fuel lines

You don't need to undo the fuel lines, just unbolt the fuel rail and move it out of the way.

Very usefull and interesting thread, I have a cracked manifold too, so I'll be planning doing this sometime :roll:

What are you replacing the manifold with, or are you just repairing it when you remove it?

Are the flexi manifolds the ones I've seen on Ebay, the 'twin-flex' ones?
