juust been checking out quadratec on line and must say that apart from one or two thing that 4wd dont sell that they are dearer on like for like parts so i for one will still bring my own parts in from the states steve an nsn may well be a good guy and try his best to provide good service and prices but the poor chap still has to make a living so if his us part suplyer is slightly dearer so must be the end price wich is a shame as we are desperatly short of good parts suplyers in this country evan lighthouse parts seem to be getting dearer :cry:

I agree about lighthouse,my new hubs cost £138 if i wasn't in a rush i would have had them from 4wd around £100 including shipping.

its true what you boyz say, the only way that anyone could compare to ordering from the states would be to start manufacturing the stuff or find some way of buying direct from the makers in real large quantaties. 4wd and companies like them are hard to beat for price and service. :smt102

I considered making my own, but the drawtite hitch is rated at 9000lb pull rate, so god forbid, any recovery should go horribly wrong in which somebody gets hurt or worse,:( at least you will be covered by the manufacturers warranty to a certian extent
Mine cost 180 squids all in, not bad IMHO

The locking pin was £22
The 2" shackle & reciever £40 ish

Ref the Hubs....I have 2 left and selling them for £119 each (plus vat, which everyone puts on, including USA)

I would bulk buy anything and make it worthwhile for everyone (me included) but I've tried it on a couple of things and the response is crap.....plenty of talk but no real commitment so unfortunaely these things do fail.

That's the cheapest I've seen hubs for over here, and from stock, too. Worth buying in advance for spares I'd say. At the end of the day it's all very well gettting stuff from the US to save some dosh, but it 'aint no good if you're off the road for a week and you need your ride to get to work or something.

well shep is having to replace his and they arnt very old at all. him not happy. we have an 83 cj and its like new, all it needs is a wheel cylinder. new things are deer and made from crap, its true.

Oh and just to jog the memory,i bought a winch bumper,fender extension flares and some side bars,and i also have a winch to go onto the bumper,so i reckon at least a days work if i did it on my own but as they say,many hands make light work(no comments about too many cooks please :lol: ).

Thanks very much Bubba and Greggmo for the kind offers.When would be the best times to do it and wheres the best place to do it?Maybe at yours Bubba if thats ok with you,depending upon whats in your garage at the moment ,of course, as you have cover,whereas i dont as my garage is rather full at the moment with a half stripped cherry as you probably know.As far as im concerned,the sooner the better,but it all depends upon your availability my fellow Dastards(the missus is moaning about all these big cardboard boxes cluttering the place up :? :? :? )
