Front pads, how long?
« on: October 13, 2008, 02:31:00 PM »

Hi, quick question, how long should it take to change the front pads on a '98 Cherokee?

I presume no special tools are needed? Just jack-up, remove wheel, remove caliper or pad retainer and remove pad ?

Ta.....

if you have never done them before 30 mins aside they are simple but dont over tighten the 13mm bolts as they strip to easy just go steady and you will be fine but please chok it and jack it safely

you can use a large g clamp to wind the piston back into the caliper so to allow the caliper and new pads to fit back onto the disk.  30mins top as Bubba says but you might have to give the brake system a bleed if the pedal feels spongy.

Did the deed this afternoon, estimates of 30 mins a-side were about right, especially with time taken to dodge the rain showers  8-)
