roll cage specifications.
« on: October 21, 2008, 09:53:35 PM »

Hi folks! i was wondering if anybody knows the size and wall thickness for offroad competition vehicles.
I make cages for drag racing etc, we use chromoly which is very expensive so i wondered if off road spec cages were the same.
Cheers
Geoff.

I dont suppose you know the wall thickness do you? the reason i ask is because i was going to make one for my cj, based on the rock crawler rigs in the states. If i used cromoly id probarbly have to sell a kidney, but if i can use a thick wall cds it would make it easier on the wallet and i could get away with just selling the missus.

Yep! thats what i was looking for many thanks mate.
Ive fitted a couple of those bolt together cages in drift cars, but if im honest they should change the rules and make them fully welded.
Then again skidding about isnt that dangerous, is it.  :?:

You!

I.O.M has some cool toys but I don't think he's a fabricator.

P.S. I didn't open the links above but the cages I have enquired about use CDS or T45 tube in 45mm O.D.

It might be possible, but i cant do it pronto as ive got a major chassis job on at the moment.
Let me know what kind of cage you want ie , 4 point or 6 point etc etc and i might be able to help out .

Absolutely no rush at all, I have quite specific ideas but they are only ideas. Kind of semi-internal, semi external cage and justed wanted to know someone that might be able to do it. I have to do some body reinforcements first becaue it's a unibody on a Cherokee.
