Absolutely no rush at all, I have quite specific ideas but they are only ideas. Kind of semi-internal, semi external cage and justed wanted to know someone that might be able to do it. I have to do some body reinforcements first becaue it's a unibody on a Cherokee.

Okey dokey james, give me a shout nearer the time.

The only quote I have had was about £120 per 6m length and that was through an engineering company that I have contacts in. What total length of tube would you expect to use on a Cherokee size cage with (probably) six body/frame mounting points (3 main hoops)??

that my friend only you can answer, tape measure basic shapes of where u want the hoops and always round up. no matter who you are, when you start making anything with tubing - it goes quick.

or if your good ole Ponyracer, it quickly goes across the street in the grass!?!?!

Measuring is the only sensible way but I'm stuck at work and needed a little distraction - thinking about making stuff and driving on the rocks keeps me going

I'll get some picture of NAXJA later, have you got any of Ponyracer's cage.

P.S. I think the tube was something like 1.75" OD 0.120" wall CDS but it may have been a metric equivalent, 45mm OD 3mm or 3.5mm wall. It was a while ago and I was enquiring about it to build a tube bumper not a cage so this may not be the right spec for a cage.

Sorry greg! i didnt mean to piss anybody off, you guys an gals seem to know what youre doing, and where to get the best materials to do the job so i thought id bow out gracefully.
The roll cages i make take a fair while to design and build, so i couldnt really give a price without having the jeep in the workshop and discussing what the owner wants .
Theres so much to it..... 4 point... 6 point .. then theres the cage that goes through the floor and links into the chassis.
At the end of the day what it boils down to is a lot of work .
I would like to think that one of my cages would save a life. Providing the person in the vehicle had a 5 point harness on and the seat was mounted correctly theres no reason why they shouldnt be able to take a big tumble and walk away laughing.

Ive had a roll cage i made crash at 300mph and the guy walked away , what more can i say.  :-)

Geoff we need members willing to make kit for those who can’t or don’t have time.

True there’s a few on here who could build a rig from the tyres up, but I bet there’s a few who would have trouble fitting seat covers :-? And every skill level in-between.

Having someone who can bend tube and fit it to a vehicles is actually quite a hard find! Just because some of us know what to use and have design ideas doesn't mean we can build a cage. I'd be happy to pay several hundred pounds + materials for a cage that had some of the design ideas I wanted.

The last enquiry I made was for a front 'cage' (A+B pillars, external A and internal B - like a lot of Landrovers have) and it was £1200 +VAT. I'd like to have a 'fullsize' cage for that kind of money, something that would protect me and a lot of the body of the vehicle during a typical off road roll accident (i.e. not 300 mph, just a slow tumble, 3 at worst).

If you go to a pipelinecentre (big brother of plumb centre same company)
they hire out pneumatic pipe benders which are not very big and should be cheap to hire
