ive just turfed out the garage, a friends 4ltr tj that ive re-re-geared the rear dana 44 cos it wasn't done properly in the first place, by a certain 'Specialist' in the 'Leisure' area.
and i put a clutch in it.

im now playing with a 4.6 stroker :-D

Does that mean your gonna make a bigger butterfly(for the tb?

above the butterfly on a standard one is 60mm an just below it necks down to 55ish at a rough measurement.
if i boar that out to match the top half then it won't be affected an i can leave the butterfly standard.

but im going to boar the whole thing to 62mm so yep ill need to fit a bigger butterfly.

im actual tempted to take it to 64mm, an there seems to be quite a few yanks running 65mm TB from Mustangs (i think) an they are very happy with them. altho there are alot of others scorning the idea of anything bigger than 62 aswell.

well i was the same, V8 all the way but ive driven it for a couple of weeks an its great fun, got loads of kick to it, leaves a standard 4 liter for dead an its a drop in replacement for half the cash you could build an fit a v8 for.

an thats the main thing, its a drop in replacement, it even looks standard!
i luv my zj but its lacking highly on the grin factor.
i thought about a v8 option - it wouldn't cost masses because i do everything myself (i still don't have the cash for it) but its the shear time an effort involved in making it fit and work i just don't have.
an as for buying a proper v8 zj i can't afford one!

im rebilding it now, i wish i didn't have to but the dingbat the built it has all the right component an just no knowlege of what to do with them!

it needs a full set of mains an big ends, the big ends, you'd think had done a 100,000 miles, the cam bearings are shot, he even fitted the head gasket with silicon, which is whats lead me to pulling it apart.

a stroker is a 4ltr board out to a 4.6 or more, different crank, rods an pistons.
mine's also got a hairy cam shaft

you can take them up to a 5ltr an 300HP but that gets very complicated!!!!

once ive finnished it, it will be pulling approximately 250 HP :-D

i don't know!!!

i don't have any an can't afford them so i might make it a future mod.

people do have them but a something which did ring bells with me was - someone mentioned "why do you need roller rockers on an engine that only goes to 5200rpm.

they are still a good an beneficial mod but by the sound of it an all the replys i read, they're not a super thing for this engine.

but i do love the look of them!!!

Ok so your gonna run 0 deck height? with a 0.040-inch head gasket when compressed? 0.030 over bore, 91-95 ho head, triple angle valves, 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust, 62cc combustion chambers,balanced 4.2 rods and pistons, am i any where near? :-)

yeah i read that when i still could get jp but we will have to agee to disagree i would much rather have a a relatily mildly built v8 over a stroked smaller engine xj and zj i can understand the temptation as a stroker is simple fit but for me thats almost all it realy has going for it as an concept

no i have an ssbc kit to fit to the rear its off the scrambler that was sadly totaled a while a go but i must say i do like rear discs for cjs

Have to say I love any tuning possibilities.
V8 for me every day 'cos I know a good'un will out live me!!

The JP stroker was an interesting build-up .....but where is it now???
I am sure it ate its camshaft first off and then later expired altogether.
I am also sure I read that the tech writer Hazel was it wished they had left the cherry as it was....

Dead easy to get 350 horses and 3-400 torque thingies from a 350. got to be way to go.
Just my personal opinion of course.
On a note that not many have mentioned. Anorak anorak....
Find yourself a 500cid caddy lump with TH400 behind it (they all had it)
advance adapters to attach Atlas to TH400 and you got running gear for life 400 bhp off idle and 500 foot torquies. fantasy fantasy
www.500c.i.d.com is the site I think, that can make em fit a Jeep.
