Your opinion would be appreciated
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:55:37 PM »

I am needing to replace the tyres on my '97 ZJ.  It has had a 2" lift in anticipation of getting some bigger tyres.  I am torn between some General Grapper AT2's or some Premier M/T's.  I put the grabbers on my wifes jeep last around and they are good but it does not leave the tarmac much. My off roading would probably equate to about 40% of the time but it does get sticky up here in the Highlands, hence the M/T's.  Does anybody have any strong opinions either way about these tyres.

Also just to be sure I was going to get 245/75/16, I'm pretty sure these are 31" tyres but I could be wrong, it is not unheard of :-D

Howared on JeepClub has the premiers (same size I think too) on his ZJ and he didn't get stuck in much at the last event I went to at Tixover. They look a pretty good tyre but I don't know what they are like for noise and tread life.

Thought so, I have them, they are bloody good, similar to the old BFG trac edge in that the centre is like an AT with wide spaced lugs on the edges like an MT. Highly recommend them, quiet, good on wet tarmac and good in mud.

Well, they are now fitted to my Jeep got them put on this morning,

The only trouble is that when they came to fit the spare wheel guess what?  It is a bloody 15" rim.  It seems that for the last four years I have been riding around with an odd spare wheel,  I have never taken that much notice of it as the other four were BFG T/A's and this is something else, I forget, but it is a nearly new something else.  Now I have to get one 16" rim, what a bloody saga.
