UJ Joints
« on: November 07, 2008, 08:50:17 PM »

I need to purchase two UJ joints for the shafts in a TJ front Axel.

Question

What size are they?
Are they better with or with out the nipple on the?
Where is the best place for me to get them?

Greaseable UJs for 97 TJ axle shafts are $8.99 in Auto Zone. They're in stock and it's about 200 metres down the road from me.

Any idea about the genuine Spicer ones, 5-760x - they are the same size.

I just bought some from Lighthouse - £45 each

I recall earlier this year buying 3 greasable UJs and a new greasable cardan joint for the front prop on my TJ for around £80 ish from Lighthouse. I think the UJs were spicer and the cardan was Crown. I bought whatever was recommended by Lighthouse for off-road abuse!

 . Lighthouse are having a hard time getting Spicer parts shipped over here for a reasonable amount, hence the price tag. Could be a load of BS but my friendly Jeep Dealer wanted £68+VAT each and I needed them quick.

I’ve just remembered, the cardan yoke part was made by Neapco an not Crown, but the UJs were Spicer! :-)
