Some how the release button has come out of my hand brake. How does the button with the long hook fit back into and connect to the hand brake?

XJ?
Had the same problem on one of mine, seems its pressed in.
You need to get at the back of the lever so you can push the button back on hard enough, some epoxy helps it stay on too.

Sorry, forgot to day which jeep, it's a facelift model.
I can't see how the hook locates inside the hand brake lever
The button is still attached to the rod with the spring and hook on the end.
