Internal lights for Grand Cherokee stay on
« on: December 05, 2008, 02:47:19 PM »

I have a 98 Grand Cherokee. When I unlock the Jeep the internal lights come on as usual, but dont fade out when all the doors are closed, and remain on. When I lock the Jeep, eventually, about 10 minutes later the lights go out!! Any suggestions? The VOC does not give any clues e.g. door open.

Thanks, Craig

Don't know about Grands, but, do they stay on if you turn on the ignition?

Yep they certainly do for the duration of the journey. Its only when you get out, lock the car and 10 minutes later they turn off as if by magic.

thanks

If you lock the doors when you are inside driving will they go off after 10 mins?

Don't know what the problem is but hopefully Dr Mike will be along soon with an answer.

Have you checked the slider for the dash illumination. when at the top it also puts the centre light on. My kids were playing in the drivers seat and that was the one switch that took me ages to work out what they had done.

I think the jeep switches off all lights after a few minutes so you don't leave your side lights on overnight.

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have three children, one of which was left in the Jeep on her own for all of two minutes when the problems started!!

She must have slid the lever to the top. I was sure I had tried it - but obviously I hadnt!!

I am indebted to you all

cheers

Craig :-D  :-D
