the noise if our suspicions are correct is not realy from the ujs though they may be worn it is from the ball coupling of the constant velocity bit it dries and sqweaks like chirping bird it is greased on assembly and does not have a greaser on it but there is a rubber boot on the coupling that you can peel very slightly back and then get a needle fitting in to it and then grease it this normaly if cought in time saves a rebuild for quite a while ......we did this to the bishops tj though not sqweeking it had started to get stiff and notchy

This is the rubber boot Bubba is talking about

The new ones from lighthouse don’t have the rubber boot on them.

My ball coupling was doing this, needed to get it sorted and no time (or money) to wait for a new one.

Stripped it down, regreased around the roller bearings (making sure they all went back in) and repacked with grease - and it has done 10,000 miles since without any problem.

Cost = £0, time about 2 hours (which would have been same fitting new parts)

Probably all depends how far gone the rollers are though.
