Would you kind people recommend 8 or 10 inch wheels for 12.5 tyres.
Please bear in mind that one day I might get to go even wider, so I would like them to be 'future proof'

8 is OK, tyres protect the rims, I've spent 15 years running a variety of 33x12.5x15 tyres on 8" rims on various 4x4s - no problem.

Check out the forum on the Quadratec site -
www.quadratec.com
- The post is titled 12.5s on 8" rims.

Thanks Rich.
Had a good look at the quadratec forum. There are a load of postings on this very subject. Most people say that if it's to be used for offroading then the 8" is the best option.
I think 12.5 would be the maximum width on a 8" though.
Waiting to hear from the 'usual suspects' on the matter.

hi Mark
i would go for 8 they hold a bead better if you air your tyres down
remember when Phil popped his 35x12.5 of his 10 on his CJ10 ?
you can go up to a 13.5 wide on a 8" rim if you run the correct pressure
checking by chalking accross the tread and driving down a straight road and seeing what chalk is left, bit of trial and error will get you there

well its choice realy tank 10 looks cooler but 8s work better on a purely tech stand point pluss the rim of an 8 is protected by the bulge of a33 not so on a10 it is open to more damage
