Bushwackers (cut out)
« on: March 27, 2009, 04:49:22 PM »

Right, ordered myself some shitwackers, the box arrived and it says CJ cut out fender flares, the code on the flares matches the box, so in theory they are correct, but when they are lined up they sit behind the arch itself on one side, sloping off to about 1-1.5" behind the wheel arch at the bottom (side near the rear), I know pic would be more sense but im not there at the mo. So:

Is this normal? Am i gonna have to cut the tub? (well i wont be cuttin it but u know what i mean) Have they sent the wrong ones?

Trawled the net but cant find a clear pic. I kinda assumed from the description it was gonna be a straight like 4 like fit, but as most of u know, my talent for tech like numptiness is probably unsurpassed, so im also beginnin to assume i just guessed wrong.

Cheers

Could the name 'cut out flares' be a clue?

Ahhh, as is usual, once you stop lookin u find it the answer:

TIP: When installing flares - If original quarter panel is not cut, then you may want to black out (flat black) panel under flare to conceal original panel.

Shame bushwacker themselves dont bother tellin you that, had to go to a Ford

Cheers Mike

What the doc says is right.

All Bushwacker Cut-out Flares need fender trimming for them to fit correctly. Regardless of what Jeep they are for. I've got B/W Cut-Outs on my XJ and there was a hell of a lot of trimming to be done. Otherwise it's all a bit pointless as the original fender will be hanging down inside the B/W

Get that cutter out and have some fun!!
