So, decided to go belt and braces on the Molotov lift and have new bushes, but naturally gettin the old ones out are a fucker, and Im gonna assume gettin new ones in will be likewise, so hints, tricks, and general USEFUL advice please

also put new bushes in hot water before fitting, makes em soft and easier to get in

10 tonne + floor press to get them in

A stressful day and then a BFH, screwdriver, saw, blow torch, whatever is nearby will get them out

Remove springs, burn out rubber, slit outer sleeve with hacksaw, bend sleeve to make smaller, watch in amazement as it falls on your foot!
Installation is nothing like removal.
Wedge spring eye open slightly with large flat bladed screwdriver to give new bush a lead in, grease outer surface of bush sleeve, install threaded rod (or long bolt) through centre of bush and suitable large washers. Put nut on other end and wind bush into place. Congratulate yourself with a cup of tea, saving the beers until you have stopped for the day!
Progressing to opposite end of the spring, i.e. shackle end: Hacksaw out old rubber bushes ensuring not to cut into spring eye. Clean bore of spring eye and paint with hammerite. Leave to dry (good idea to do this to both ends). When paint is dry soak new bushes in warm water, apply Fairy Liquid to bore of spring eye and twist bush into place. Do NOT expect bush to slide in with compression only as rubber swells under load and makes life more difficult (bloody impossible in fact).
Reinstall spring to vehicle and move on to next corner of the car using all safety procedures anyone could ever think of.
P.S. Dont set fire to the bloody Jeep!

I wound mine in using my vice. Worked a treat

If you go that route, make sure you use some soft jaws

when the bushes have been fitted only full tighten the bolts when the heep is back on four wheels. give the heep a rock from sise to side to allow everything to settle.

if you tighten the bolts before dropp the heep onto the wheels there is a chance of preloading the bush in a shear condition which can result in premature failure of the rubber

I soaked mine in a 50:50 mix of ATF/Acetone overnight, then using a 10mm threaded rod, two BFO (big fuck off)washers and a socket that fitted (14mm 1/2" drive) I pulled them out, I then removed the socket to reinstall them, worked a treat.

we did the thinners/atf mix on the bolts and they certainly came off easier than i imagined they would

and even better is the rear bushed have all been done (and i got away with doin none of them

) so its half way there

did have to get some custom u bolts made tho by a firm in the midlands

this has turned out an 'interesting' venture, turns out the 4" lift is actually a 6-7" lift at the back and a 2-3" lift on the front, which was givin a pretty funky drag truck look, but after much head scratching and viewing of Leviathans photos my bro twigged that the front is actually SOA

so the mild 4" lift is turnin into summink fuckin monstrous, roof is sittin at around 6'5"-6'6"

cant wait to see Mrs BD's face when i introduce her to the winter family truck and her winter ride to to work
