yep, fog needs to be centre or offset to the centre of the road I think (I did mine in the drivers side light and had no mot issues), you can get 21w red led bulbs from halfrauds

clearer pic of the rear lights below - so are ya sayin a red bulb in the offside lens where the reverse bit is will suffice as a rear fog if its wired up to the fog light switch?

personally I would still just go for a lardie one cos they are cheap and I would just place it half way between number plate and lights. The reversing light might be a tad on the small side.

how much room is there from the bumper to the tailgage skin, would a LED flat lamp type work?

The inspection of rear fog lamps is confined to the one rear fog lamp which is required to be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980.

1981 does need one but worth checking the chassis number, might just wriggle out of it

if you do have to get one fitted why not just mount it to the tailgate just above the bumper?

and don't forget you must have a dash mounted indicator to show its on and can only work with the ignition on and main/high beam active
