Do these run the full length arch to arch? How wide are they?

They are 5ft long and approx 5.5 inches tall in total with a 5 inch return from the start of the first bend if that makes sense.
I think they are 1.2mm steel as is the original tub, but they could be 1.5mm and i would need to double check that figure another time.

Managed to get a couple of hours in this eve, in between showers, fuel tank now off, little bit of pinhole central on the bottom side  :icon_eek:

Hedman headers are off also, some repair needed on the joints  :icon_eek:

Any recommendations on a good (cheap) exhaust fab shop? Mid wales, Shropshire, midlands (ish)

Nice little pressie from the states waiting for me today. No metal work is going to start until the shed is built so I'll keep looking for parts for now.Picked up the side pipes & a nice new HEI distributor & a few bits from 5536paulj today. Just want to crack on with it now  :015:

& so the jigsaw puzzle starts. All the bad steel in the front section has now been cut out.
Side panels arrived today from Mr Sparky (cheers Dave)

Bit of advice needed? Would it better to tack weld the new sides & floor before taking the tub off to save any possible twisting or would it be best to take tub off & square it up when it's off incase the tub has twisted already :017:

I'm also thinking of cutting the whole of the rear floor & inner arches out & starting again. I'm thinking that a sheet metal fabricator would make these up quite easily by using the old floor as a template.

Well, it's been year & since last update its gone downhill from there really. Top floor in the shed is done now so while I had the fork lift here this weekend moving the jeep parts, I decided to take the tub off the 8. If I wasn't depressed looking at it under tarp for 12 months, I am now!!! So tub is pretty shagged to say the least. I'm seriously considering chopping the tub at the mid scuttle panel & replacing the whole front end from my other 7. There will still be enough work on the rear tub after that.
On a positive note, the chassis is still in one piece after a steam clean!  :jpshakehead:

Stick with it tris, ill admitt that its a bit daunting to start with mine was the same :jpshakehead: dont chop it all out at once just start on one side at a time, weld some cross braces in to stop it collapsing.
Its a shame you cant get the underneath sand blasted at least then youll be able to get a clearer picture and maybe get some oxide and flat black hammerite on the good bits this will lessen the blow of the bad bits :hysterical: trust me it worked for me, good luck mate :icon_winkle:

So it's been a while since I updated you the 8 rebuild (7 months ish)
Original plan was to repair but it has ended up as a full rebuild. chassis has been taken back to bare metal & re painted, new steering bits, tank, brake lines, fuel lines. Tub went off to the surgery. Rear end has been rebuilt with new steel, front end is now from a clean YJ. Some piccy's so far. Still a way to go yet. Not a sight of rust now so next step is  full re-wire & respray.
