As you know I have d44 n/t's for my CJ7 - but these are already at the gearing I would like - is it a whole new world of pain Im buying in to of relatively staright forward?

And do ya happen to know if they are discs (yes I could ask the seller but ... :003: )?
-
classic, that is the guy with the lorry!
-
buddy?
-
kinda, nice bloke. genuine, heh you could pick up the lorry with the axles on it. bargain :003:
-
it could be :003:
altho I was thinkin more about how much money you coud get off for me
-
I will hang on to hear how positive everyone is first about the easy swap this will be :eusa_pray:

good luck with that :hysterical:
though cleggy on j33p has them on his tj, and big_patrols mate is fitting some to an xj
-
I have faith :003:
NB is on, Bubba is on, DJ20 is on, IOM will be on - in fact, lots of brainy tech folk will be on so someone will know
I could do with findin the spec sheet to see its width etc
-
to your original question, advert says axles with CALLIPERS, so would say they have discs, not seen many drums use callipers

:hysterical: :hysterical: :banghead:
-
:hysterical: you thought i read the tech part properly :hysterical:
anyway smartypants - answer the big question please
-
if the big question is "world of pain" then depends who's fitting em.
those are from a coiled vehicle and your CJ has leaves so some fab work will be involved, either convert the CJ to trailing arm and coils or adapt the axles to fit to leaves by making new perches
-
so just new perches and away I go?
cool :greggmo:
the D44 needs perches moved anyway
-
sounds easy don't it :hysterical:
-
as my optimistic collection bears (bares?) testimony - my glass i half full :icon_jook:
-
my only concern would be if they ever had problems parts are meant to be uber uber uber dear and then some

That's BD out then!
-
:icon_jook:  :peekaboo:
-
nahh the cost would be a mere trifle for him
-
certainly no parts on uk fleabay
and I cant even find out how wide they are :banghead:
-
no lighthouse safety net for when im panickin tho
have asked some questions
-
like do these go underneath the car ?
-
like do these go underneath the car ?
well they don't go on top :003:
-
like do these go underneath the car ?
rumour has it Willo might be right :hysterical:
I do have an oracle i can tap in to
-
narrow trac or wide track axles presume fsj
-
n/t fsj is what currently is sittin nxt to the CJ
-
what drop is the front cj.......
-
They be right drop
Like a chev dana60 :icon_super: should be compulsory I say :hysterical:
-
shorten the long side 4" this makes the axle same width as a wide track cj you will have to move the axle mount and respine the long shaft last one i did used yukon outers and cj outer hubs but you could keep the 6 stud ends
-
are we talkin now the n/t's or the lj's?
-
Hes talking Dana BD and id keep the 44s if i were you, at least parts are reasonably easily available and cheap enough from the States.
I thought you were going full width with those axles though?
Oh and Willo both Cleggy and Dannys mate are using Nissan Patrol axles not Landcruiser :icon_winkle:

yup, full width and 6 stud (new wheels and 35's all in place already), if i recall it only adds about 3-4" each side
-
So why dont you use them then? :017: But if you dont cut them down you will need to put your spring hangers on the side of the chassis rails to make them fit :003:
-
:imwitstupid: :iagree: or you could make it a trailer Queen
-
Sparky - the lj axles are 4.88 and discs, which is where the n/t on the 7 will be heading, so im gauging whether its a cheaper option in the long run, especially as they also 6 stud
altho my ocd does like all the d44's :003:
and diesel good bud - nope :eusa_naughty: nope :eusa_snooty: nope :003:
trailers are for maniacs
-
Japanese parts on a Cj tsk!, you heathen :003:
You sure both LJ axles are discs? i would ask the question as the rear is more likely to be on drums...
-
:iagree:rear is more likely to be on drums
-
ok, cheers, I did ask last last night so will see, but width seems about 8" less than d44 anyway if im readin some specs right that i found on google so non-starter if i am; the dood is measuring

according to bubba, CJ's were made in Japan....

Mitsubishi cj3b

If you already have the Dana 44 fit those, like dieselj20 said, got a pair of yukon scout d44 stub shafts and that let me use all my old D30 stuff from the steering knuckles out, made fitting a front dana 44 to a cj easy.
if you go with those yota axles you will have to find out if the caster angle is correct or you will be all over the road, also pinion length?, it might need new prop shafts making and then you have got to set up the steering, are these axles any stronger than d44s?
I would keep it jeep, and go with the d44s
