shorten the long side 4" this makes the axle same width as a wide track cj you will have to move the axle mount and respine the long shaft last one i did used yukon outers and cj outer hubs but you could keep the 6 stud ends

Hes talking Dana BD and id keep the 44s if i were you, at least parts are reasonably easily available and cheap enough from the States.
I thought you were going full width with those axles though?

Oh and Willo both Cleggy and Dannys mate are using Nissan Patrol axles not Landcruiser  :icon_winkle:

yup, full width and 6 stud (new wheels and 35's all in place already), if i recall it only adds about 3-4" each side

So why dont you use them then? :017: But if you dont cut them down you will need to put your spring hangers on the side of the chassis rails to make them fit  :003:

Sparky - the lj axles are 4.88 and discs, which is where the n/t on the 7 will be heading, so im gauging whether its a cheaper option in the long run, especially as they also 6 stud

altho my ocd does like all the d44's  :003:

You sure both LJ axles are discs? i would ask the question as the rear is more likely to be on drums...

ok, cheers, I did ask last last night so will see, but width seems about 8" less than d44 anyway if im readin some specs right that i found on google so non-starter if i am; the dood is measuring

If you already have the Dana 44 fit those, like dieselj20 said, got a pair of yukon scout d44 stub shafts and that let me use all my old D30 stuff from the steering knuckles out, made fitting a front dana 44 to a cj easy.
if you go with those yota axles you will have to find out if the caster angle is correct or you will be all over the road, also pinion length?, it might need new prop shafts making and then you have got to set up the steering, are these axles any stronger than d44s?
I would keep it jeep, and go with the d44s
