......seem a tad excessive!  I have a problem with the tickover on my Grand....it is way too low and cuts out when in traffic or manoeuvring at slow speed, can anyone recommend a specialist in the Gloucestershire or Bristol area?

You can probably fix this yourself. The idle air control's probably clogged up. Take the throttle body off, remove the Idle Air Control Stepper motor and clean out the gunge. Refit and it'll probably be ok.

Thanks Mike, have had that done...

Full story...had the thing serviced by a "specialist"...ran fine for about 100 miles then the "check engine" light came on, something emissions sensor related I imagine. Have a look under the bonnet and the clips securing the airfilter housing are all undone and the plastic intake has fallen off the throttle body... reattach and the check engine light goes out but the idle is very erratic, drive for 20 miles and the idle settles down to extremely low....

Had the local jack of all trades workshop take the idle motor out and cleaned out loads of "deposits" ...no difference.

Is a TPS reset the answer? if it was reset by "the specialist" without the airfilter pipe correctly attached to the throttle body now the air is properly filtered is it causing the problem? am I talking nonsense?

It would be worth disconnecting the battery for a minute to reset the PCM. (don't forget your radio is coded) You may have to restari it with a little throttle if it won't go afteraweds until it relearns it's idle setting.

Excellent plan.....will try it the moment it stops raining, not sure I can find the radio code....but I would rather have the idle sorted!

   excellent bit of advice that....tickover is still a bit low, but much better than it was, not dying anymore....even found the radio code in the service book!

give your local dealer your chassis and reg number and they should be able to tell you your radio code. have done this in the past so i know it works hope it helps.
