electrical fault- help needed!
« on: July 26, 2012, 06:23:47 PM »

My 93 YJ has just failed MOT on a fault with the indicators and I'm a bit puzzled with where to start.
Essentially, the four ways work fine but if I indicate in either direction, some of the indicators on the opposite side come on too :017:.
Any ideas or pointers?? Any regular faults with this system?
Thanks for any help!

I think someone else had a similar problem on the forum, but you'll be looking at an earth fault somewhere on your switch, also try a different  relay

Try changing the hazard switch.

Several times I have had to wash the inside of my TJ out and the indicators have gone nuts until the switch dried out a bit.

This morning I changed the switch because they didn't work until you giggled them back and forth for a few minutes. The switch is the same as a Cherokee so I picked one up cheap and now they work fine.

I opened my original switch up to see what was inside. The contacts were covered in a greenish blue swamp goo.this whole mess could make the lights do all kinds of tricks.
