I did read about the Nissan option but there were also some Ford options there.

A couple of my clients run tuning companies plus we have some corporate clients who manufacture car parts so have a few 'go to' people if necessary. Half the fun is learning along the way though!

I'm not going to spend silly money on this and am still at the bottom of the learning curve really. I suppose it depends what you call expensive and that's the bit in so figuring out. The cost of doing different things to the Jeep. Getting there slowly but surely though.

I have seen a fair few people with the 2.5 axle on various forums. I thought the issue with the stroker though was strength rather than just gearing?

a birty budget is blood sweat and tears with jaffa cakes. followed by a reluctant call to a US supplier

I don't have a firm budget. But ideally wouldn't want to go above £9,000 to 10k over the next 12 months on the Jeep.  There's other car projects we are wanting to do.

I think thats a realistic amount for the engine and suspension mods I'd like to do. Plus should leave a little for brakes etc

I fully understand we will never get that back buy I'm not fussed about that. Its highly unlikely we would ever sell it anyway.  The only thing niggling me is that I've bought a facelift car and really prefer the pre facelift but its solid and don't need much work wise to get it right to start with.

If you are really fussed, then you should be able to swap most, if not all, of the parts over to make a prefacelift make over.

That's interesting and hadnt thought of that.  A lot of trouble though for probably not much pay off.  Really like the retro feel of the old xj interior and dash which is probably my main thing. But the one we've bought is black with tan leather and I have to admit that colour combination looks cool too. If it had black leather would be very tempted to go NATO green on the outside again though!

Though I'm on my 3rd facelift I really miss my first xj an L reg pre airbag mk 1
Real classic american feel to the interior most are rotten out by now, love to find a low mileage mk1 minter
