HT Leads For 1997 Grand Cherokee 4.0lt
« on: June 14, 2015, 04:21:41 PM »

Ok folks.
My Jeep is ready for a new set of HT leads.
Can any of you learned folk point me in the right direction for a quality set please?

I don't mind paying for quality parts but I do mind paying over the odds.....

I have seen a set of Prospark leads that seem reasonable....

Are these any good or do I need to keep looking.

Thanks

Derek

I have used Bougicord over the years and can recommend them.Good quality and certainly not your Halfrauds crap :icon_winkle:

There may of course be better!

You could also make your own from Ferroflex 8mm cable in any colour you like as long as it's red, black or blue :

I can point you in the direction of a supplier of the terminals etc for the ends as well and a guide to making them if that helps.

As for Prospark, i had a set of them on my 827 Sterling once. Then i made some out of Ferroflex and so far, they've lasted longer.  :icon_biggrin:

Thanks for the Replies Folks.

The HT leads on my jeep look like the original red ones and feel like they are starting to break down.
I have gone for the Bougicord leads as I don't fancy making my own.

Hope they last as long as the OEM ones... Best part of 100k

Bougicord are good kit Derek so you should be fine. Making your own leads isn't for everyone, i did it because i didn't fancy paying £200+++ for a set from Honda for my Rover 827 (same as a Honda Legend) and the £33 Prospark ones didn't last a dogwatch on it. That said the Honda C27/Rover 2.7 engine is renowned for being "hard" on HT leads.
When i get round to doing the leads on my Jeep i'll do a write up with pictures which will hopefully help others out.
