Not sure what happened there...I did enter the problem...

It's an auto...recently when sitting in traffic and I lift my foot off the brake (and in drive) the car rolls (as it should) however the engine almost cuts out but manages to recover itself and keep running.

Any ideas what could cause this? I read online it could be an IAC valve (abbreviation may be wrong).

I know you guys love a good fault thread.......

It could well be the IAC (Abbrev. correct - Idle Air Controller). The air passage could be a bit gummed up by deposits, and the IAC sticking a bit. You need to remove the IAC to clean it and the orifices in the throttle body properly. Careful cleaning the IAC itself, I read they can be broken if the plunger is moved.

Just checked the air filter and it's black!!! ....could this also be a cause??

I have come across cars with filters so blocked, they would not start!! Get it changed first

Just checked the air filter and it's black!!! ....could this also be a cause??

this is an initial observation of a problem, a black or contaminated filter will provide a resistance to airflow at low speeds. Replace first then see if the problem is still there
