Cherokee / Grand Cherokee front axle
« on: January 21, 2009, 01:57:58 PM »

The XJ front axle seems to have a number of benefits over the ZG, ujs on the halfshafts, UJ on the prop flange.

Are both axles interchangable (if they both came off a 4.0 i6) and are the diff ratios the same?

Not that I've an aversion to CV's or anything

Shooting from the hip here but last months JP mag had a letter or answer to a letter that said the UJ axle half shafts and stub axles will fit the CV axles because the knuckles are the same.
Any help?

My ZG has UJ's as standard on front prop and axle so reckon it should just be a straight swap.

Have a look here http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.p ... t=cv+joint

Thanks,  I need to rebuild one of the cv's later on, the boots split and just waiting for it to turn up now.

I'll have a look at the condition of the thing, if it's looking worn I'll ring around about the price of a couple of uj shafts.

I've smashed that many CV's now off roading (record is 4 in 8 hours) uj's are going to be the better option ;)
